My inspiration comes from other artists, nature, family and friends. I have taken hand-building techniques that I learned from other ceramic artists and developed my own methods and techniques to achieve the results I desire.
I enjoy hand-building with clay the most, although I can throw pieces on the wheel. My preferred technique is to make a slab, then texture it and start cutting pieces from the slab and building. Then firing my pieces using various firing methods such as in an electric kiln, gas kiln, pit fire or wood-fired kiln. Currently, most of my work is fired in an electric kiln or – wood-fired.
The most enjoyment I get from my artwork is when someone shows an interest and appreciation for one of my pieces. My goal is to create whimsical pieces that evoke a smile or inquisitive expression, and bring enjoyment to the viewer.

Directions to studio K from downtown Berkeley Springs.
1. Go north on Route 522 (N. Washington St.).
2. Turn left on Rt. 9 West past the Castle towards Paw Paw.
3. Go ½ mi. then turn left on Cold Run Valley Rd towards Coolfont Mountainside.
4. Follow Cold Run Valley Road approximately 3 miles following the signs to Coolfont.
5. Turn right onto Herbert Quick Dr.
6. Go 1/10th mile to “T” at Mountainside Road.
7. Cross Mountainside Rd. and go straight up the driveway at the sign that says “La Verdad”, 5 Mountainside Rd.
(Note: GPS mapping in Morgan County can be spotty and often incorrect. Using the coordinates posted here will take you to the proper location even if mapping, such as Google Maps, indicates a different street number.)
